The Opportunity:

At Lola Cars, we are building something special.
As one of the most iconic names in motorsport, we design, build, engineer and race world-class race and road cars from our new headquarters at Silverstone, and we need exceptional people behind every part of that journey.

We have a fabulous opportunity for experienced Formula E Mechanics to join the growing, dedicated and talented Lola team as we embark on the exciting Gen 4.0 era of Formula E. As a Formula E Mechanic, you will support the preparation, build, inspection, servicing and repair of the Lola Formula E race cars for test and race events, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to the highest professional standard. Working under the direction of the Chief Mechanic and alongside engineers, performance specialists and trackside personnel, you will play a key role in the assembly, maintenance and operation of the race cars, contributing to reliability, performance and continuous improvement while helping to deliver safe, legal and competitive car operation in a fast-paced motorsport environment.

What you will be doing:

Carry out the mechanical preparation, build, inspection, servicing, repair, and presentation of the Lola Formula E car(s) for race and test events under the direction of the Chief Mechanic.

  • Complete allocated work safely, accurately, and to schedule, following build sheets, setup sheets, drawings, work orders, and instructions from the Chief Mechanic and engineering team.
  • Prepare and maintain assigned mechanical systems and components, including suspension, steering, braking, wheel and tyre systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling, bodywork, and composite components.
  • Support garage and pit-lane operations during events, ensuring the car, equipment, tools, and working area are ready for each session and managed to a consistently high standard.
  • Assist with car assembly, setup changes, component changes, inspections, repairs, and rebuilds between sessions, working efficiently within tight event deadlines.
  • Carry out fault-finding and mechanical rectification, reporting issues promptly to the Chief Mechanic and supporting engineers with clear, factual information.
  • Complete torque checks, measurements, inspections, cleanliness checks, and sign-offs in accordance with team procedures, ensuring all critical work is recorded and traceable.
  • Support the safe integration and operation of high-voltage and electric powertrain systems, working only within the team's electrical safety procedures and authorised responsibilities.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, spares, consumables, lifting equipment, and garage infrastructure in a clean, safe, serviceable, and event-ready condition.
  • Assist with the packing, loading, transport, receipt, and preparation of race and test cars, spares, and equipment for domestic and international events.
  • Contribute to reliability and continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, suggesting practical improvements, and supporting preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate build records, inspection sheets, fault reports, component histories, and post-event documentation as directed by the Chief Mechanic.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Mechanic, Race Engineer, engineers, mechanics, operations, logistics, and performance groups to deliver safe, legal, reliable, and high-performance car operation.
  • Support the development of team procedures and best practices, and undertake other reasonable mechanical duties required to support the Lola Formula E team.

What we are looking for:

  • Self-motivated to develop, learn, and deliver the Formula Mechanic remit in a high-performance motorsport environment.
  • A hands-on, practical, and positive approach to problem-solving, coupled with a can-do attitude and a high degree of initiative.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and takes pride in delivering accurate, clean, and repeatable workmanship.
  • Able to follow technical instructions precisely, while also having the confidence to raise concerns and ask for clarification when required.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, concise updates to the Chief Mechanic and wider team.
  • Comfortable working calmly and effectively in a fluid, time-critical environment, including during race and test events.
  • Work systematically and methodically, with a clear understanding of inspection, torque, sign-off, configuration control, and safe working practices.
  • Able to build positive working relationships and contribute constructively as part of a close-knit car crew.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the resilience to respond positively to changing priorities, unexpected faults, and demanding event schedules.
  • Committed to teamwork, continuous improvement, and developing technical capability through feedback and practical experience.
  • Organised and dependable, with good time-management skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks to tight deadlines.
  • Physically capable of working safely in a demanding garage, pit-lane, workshop, and event environment, including extended periods on feet.
  • Demonstrates a strong interest in motorsport, electric vehicle technology, and reliable high-performance engineering.

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • Relevant mechanical, automotive, motorsport, or engineering technical qualification, apprenticeship, or commensurate practical experience.
  • Previous experience in a professional motorsport workshop, race team, automotive engineering, or similarly demanding mechanical environment is desirable.
  • Experience in Formula E, Formula 1, WEC, LMDh, IndyCar, Formula 2, or another high-level motorsport category is desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of race-car mechanical systems, including suspension, steering, braking, wheel and tyre systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and composite components.
  • Experience working around high-voltage electric powertrains, together with relevant electrical safety training or authorisation, is desirable.
